Become a TMG Consultant

We work with a network of experienced professionals – subject matter experts, researchers, and practitioners – who collaborate with us to meet client needs. If you’re interested in working with TMG as an independent consultant, here’s what to expect.

What does a TMG consultant do?

Our consultants are engaged to provide subject matter expertise to fit client needs. The work is wide-ranging and may include on-site assessments and report writing, training and seminar development and facilitation, mentoring and coaching, operations assistance and policy review, etc., depending on the specific contract.

The size of our teams varies by project, so you may be working with other consultants depending on the client need.  In all cases, you will have a TMG Project Director who manages the work overall, a TMG Project Manager who handles logistics and project administration, and the TMG Finance staff who can assist with invoices and payment.

TMG is looking to collaborate with leaders in their fields who have practical experience, to provide realistic, context-driven, and sustainable solutions for our clients.

We look to work individuals that have had experience working in the criminal justice system, to include jails, prisons, juvenile facilities, and community corrections.

We also engage researchers, data analysts, experts in leadership and organizational health, medical and mental staff, content and presentation designers, among others, to contribute to our work.

The only disqualification is if your current employment or contractual agreement does not allow for any outside engagements or if you are under a non-compete agreement.

The time commitment is flexible, depending on the project.  At the beginning of each project you will be provided with an expected number of hours and a tentative project timeline so you can evaluate if the opportunity is right for you at that time.

One benefit of our consulting model is that it provides our independent consultants with flexibility to take on work, or to decline a project, based on their current commitments and circumstances.

There is additional flexibility in that our client needs drive when work is performed, and therefore may be periods of time between contact from TMG and project engagement.

TMG offers both on-site and virtual opportunities for a consultant.  On-site work may take place in a corrections or detention facility, or at an agency headquarters or training center.  Virtual work can include client interactions, meeting facilitations, and/or preparation for meetings for on-site work.  You will be provided with specific information on the expectations for each project at the beginning of the engagement.

TMG is looking for knowledgeable, responsive, organized individuals, who are able to work collaboratively with our team, and share our values of being a trusted partner for clients in advancing cultures of safety for our clients and those in their custody.

Please send your resume, and a cover letter highlighting any experience or projects relevant to our work, to the Vice President, Correctional Services, at khyle@mossgroup.us.

Once received, you will be contacted for an informational discussion to gain further details about collaborating with TMG.

After the discussion, if mutually agreed, you will be added to TMG’s roster for consideration for future projects.  You will be asked to answer a questionnaire concerning your expertise, provide some biographical information, and complete other paperwork at that time.

If you are offered and accept work on specific project, at that time you will receive a formal independent contractor agreement, and description of the project work and expectations, and be entered into our electronic payment system.

For additional information, please contact to the Vice President, Correctional Services, at khyle@mossgroup.us.
